Castle Head FSC Field Centre
Castle Head Field Centre is located within the village of Lindale; just a 10 minute walk from school. We work closely with staff from the field centre on area of the curriculum such as geography, history and science as well as our programme of residential experiences.
Residential experiences in conjunction with Castle Head
Our residential programme is a highlight of the school year. Key Stage 2 go on residential with Selside school which is a brilliant way to build on their communication and teamwork skills as well as strengthening our relationship with Selside.
Reception and Year 1 and 2: Reception spend a morning at Castlehead and year 1 and 2 spend a day and evening at Castle Head linked to their class topics. Year 1 and 2 also have opportunities to learn about their own abilities.
Years 3 and 4: 3 day residential at a beautiful bunkbarn in North Yorkshire focusing on teamwork.
Year 5 and 6: 4 day residential at a bunkbarn in the Lake District focusing on learning to lead.
Curriculum work with Castle Head
We have studied the history of Lindale and in particular the influence of John Wilkinson. We had a fantastic whole school History day where everyone dressed as characters from different periods of the village’s history. We had a wonderful assortment of highway men, Victorian ladies and labourers and current day walkers.
Selside Endowed C of E Primary School
We are proud to have a close partnership with Selside School. This allows our children and staff to work together and share ideas. We believe it is vital that our pupils have a range of opportunities to socialise with children from other schools. Thoughout the year, we organise joint events such as the Year 5 and 6 Leadership Day, residentials and regular Times Table Rockstar battles!
Intergenerational Friendship Club
We are proud to have a link with the Intergenerational Friendship Club in High Newton. In the past, our Key Stage 2 children have regularly visited their meetings and joined in with the activities such as performing carols at the Christmas party, seeing birds of prey and taking part in an art class. They enjoy talking to the elderly members and it is wonderful to put some smiles on people’s faces. Since COVID, we haven’t been able to visit, but we have still keep in regular contact. All the children in school produce artwork, videos and photos for the club’s website which are shared with the members. They look forward to updates from Pippa the dog.
Anglican International School, Jerusalem
In 2021, we began our link with the Anglican International School in Jerusalem. We share photos between schools and learn about some Jewish festivals as well as teaching them about the festivals we celebrate in school. We are looking forward to working more with them in future.
