It was great learning about the book ‘The Secret Garden’ today through a workshop by Theatre by the Lake. We used drama to understand the character of Mary. Over the last week of school, we will continue to explore the book further.

We had a great Viking morning yesterday finding out what our names are in Viking runes and designing and making our own Viking shields!

We had a great time learning about Alfred Wainwright this morning through the Kendal Archive workshop. It was really interesting to learn all about his life by looking through the archive material, and we loved looking at his intricate drawings.

In art today, we printed the William Morris printing blocks we made last lesson. Year 2 & 3 concentrated on printing their design clearly. Year 4 had the extra challenge to create a linking pattern when reprinted. Year 5 & 6 printed 3 printing blocks on top of each other. Have a look… the finished products are beautiful.

Year 6 had a great time on residential! We went bouldering, for a mountain hike, ghyll scrambling, rock climbing and stand up paddle boarding!

We had a fantastic morning making dens to raise money for Save the Children. Thank you very much to everyone who donated materials. The children really enjoyed using all the different materials to create structures and solve problems.

Today we began to make the new landmarks that we designed for Lindale. The children have independently chosen the materials that they thought were suitable…we had all sorts out! We used chicken wire, glue guns, paper mache, wire, cardboard and clay.
We can’t wait to see what the finished products look like!

Today year 5 & 6 painted their William Morris inspired clay tiles. They used patterns from nature to create their designs.

Year 4 and 5 had a great time on residential! Howgills bunkbarn (where we stayed) was fantastic. We went dry ghyll scrambling, hiked up Winder Fell, visited a farm and Fairfield Mill, went to see the waterfall and ate ice cream!

Today, we had a really exciting afternoon at Castle Head to prepare for our residential next week. First we went pond dipping and using classification charts to name what we had found. Then we had a go on the brand new low ropes course.
